GOD LISTENS TO OUR PRAYERS
memory verse for this unit
“Pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17, NIV*).
objectives of this unit
This unit will help the children:• Learn that God listens to and answers their prayers.
the reason we teach this unit
The children will learn to give thanks to God through prayer.
They will study that they can pray to God in moments of sadness. They will know that God hears their prayers when they are sick. They will understand that they can pray when they feel afraid.
We know that God hears and answers our prayers. What a privilege we have as followers of Jesus Christ to be able to approach God, our creator and provider, in prayer! We can talk to him anytime, anywhere and about anything. We can enter into his presence with the absolute confidence that the Lord listens to us and will respond according to his holy will.
During these four lessons on prayer, preschoolers will learn to praise God, thanking him for his love and care, as well as for family, clothing and food. Then they will study about people of the Old Testament who made requests to God. They will find out that Hannah prayed when she was sad, Hezekiah asked for healing when he was going to die, and Daniel prayed when he felt fear.
As you prepare the lessons, ask the Lord to use these lessons so that your children understand the importance of recognizing the constant presence of God in their lives.
