WE THANK GOD FOR JESUS

memory verse for this unit

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son” (John 3:16a, NIV*).

objectives of this unit

This unit will help the children:• Thank God for sending his son to the world.

the reason we teach this unit

The children will study that God promised to send his son Jesus to the world.

They will know that God fulfilled his promise when Jesus was born in Bethlehem. They will thank God for sending his son Jesus.

They will understand why it is important to announce the Good News of the birth of Jesus. They will learn to worship Jesus for being the Son of God, the promised Messiah.

Christmas is the favorite time of the year of many children. Young children have great expectations for this celebration. However, they can easily get lost in secular traditions and customs, so they need accurate and clear teaching on the true meaning of Christmas. They should know that when God sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, he gave us the supreme illustration of what it means to give.

Guide them through these stories to experience the joy that Mary felt when she was visited by an angel, and the excitement of the shepherds when they saw the multitude of angels singing in heaven. When you talk about the wise men visiting Jesus, help children understand the joy of giving. Plant in the heart of each child that Christmas is a very special celebration because we give thanks to God for the best gift ever given: Our Savior Jesus Christ! Through these lessons, motivate them to offer Jesus their most important gift: their life.

Also, this is the last unit in this age 3-5 cycle. As is done in many schools, it is important to promote learners to the next level. Plan for a special time to help your children celebrate and transition well to the next age 6-9 cycle.
