HOW TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS

memory verse for this unit

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31, NIV*)

objectives of this unit

This unit will help the children:• Understand that all people are responsible for their own decisions. And, above all, there will be consequences whether good or bad• Identify some of their talents and encourage them to use those talents for the service of the Lord• Understand that if they make decisions that do not please God, it will bring them terrible consequences• Stand firm in making the right choices, even if those decisions make them different from others• Understand that in everyday life we must decide to continue to follow God, even when we face opposition.

the reason we teach this unit

Every day, children must make decisions. Most of them are more and more independent from the adults in their lives as they learn to make decisions on their own. They choose friends, activities, how to spend their time and how to spend their money. They also come face to face with important choices about their bodies and how to live peacefully with their family. Your children need to know how to make wise decisions to be happier and more productive in their lives. Bad decisions cause problems and unhappiness. This unit emphasizes that God can help them make positive decisions in every aspect of their lives. In these sessions your children will learn that to make good decisions in their daily lives, they need God’s help.
