THE STORY OF CHRISTMAS

memory verse for this unit

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, NIV*).

objectives of this unit

This unit will help the children:• Desire to obey God• Understand why people need a Savior• Learn the importance of sharing the Good News with others• Desire and search for ways to worship Jesus.

the reason we teach this unit

This unit will allow you to help your students understand that when they obey God, things will go much better than when they disobey. The God’s guidance is always for the good of the one who follows it. As you develop the explanation of Christmas, you can awaken in them the desire to speak about Jesus to friends or relatives who do not know the Lord. However, they are not doing it as one who recruits people for a club, but because they have first understood that people without God are empty, sad and hopeless. Finally, this unit provides a wonderful opportunity to instill in them the understanding that God expects them to spend time with him each day, and to hear from their lips words of worship and gratitude for the many blessings that he pours out upon their lives.

Also, this is the last unit in this age 6-9 cycle. As is done in many schools, it is important to promote learners to the next level. Plan for a special time to help your children celebrate and transition well to the next age 10-13 cycle.
