PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

memory verse for this unit

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13, NIV*).

objectives of this unit

This unit will help your preadolescents:• Understand that Jesus overcame temptation, and that is the reason, if they put their trust in the truth and righteousness of God, they too can stand firm against temptation• Understand that salvation delivers us from fear and sin, as seen in Onesimus’ trust in God that made him unafraid to return to a difficult situation• Understand that we can find answers, especially about salvation, in the Word of God. We must also tell others• Understand that prayer is an indispensable necessary resource in our fight against evil and that we can pray for all our needs.

the reason we teach this unit

At this stage of their lives, preadolescents may face evil constantly. They’re exposed to violence and immorality on television, in movies, in cartoons, on the news, and perhaps in their neighborhoods. They may see the result of evil in the lives of their neighbors, schoolmates, friends and possibly even in their own homes. This unit will help them recognize the enemy that promotes all this disorder and trouble to identify God’s plan to defeat him. They’ll know what tools they have to resist evil and grow as Christians. These lessons will help them understand the value and need for prayer in their fight against evil.
